If you accidentally get ink on your sofa, don’t panic. Breath in, breath out and take some action! Yes, you can remove the stains as long as you are act fast and smooth.
Here are several ways to make sure that the stain is removed without a trace. Just follow these simple rules:
#1 Read the label
Always read the label and check the cleaning codes of your upholstered furniture before proceeding to clean it. Don’t forget to perform a test on a hidden small spot on the upholstery before using any kind of solution on it.
#2 Act fast
The sooner you treat the stain the better the chances of full removal. If the ink stain is fresh, first blot it gently with a paper towel or clean white soft cloth until you get as much of the ink out as possible. Do not rub it! Work from the outside of the stain towards the middle. This will help limit the risk of spreading the stain further.
#3 Apply DIY stain remover
For ink removal, make a mixture of corn starch and milk until you get a thick paste. Spread it over the ink stain and let it sit until it dries completely. After that hover the powder off of the stain. Use a slightly damp clean cloth to rinse of the milk by blotting it.
Another method to remove ink from your upholstery is to spray t with hairspray and then use a clean cloth to blot the stain until it is completely gone. Don’t rub it, so as not to spread the ink around. If the stain is still visible use a damp cloth with a few drops of mild dishwashing detergent to blot it until the stain is completely removed.
#4 Use a clean cloth
Always use a clean cloth dampened with clean water to dab the spot and rinse of any other solution you have used for the stain removal. Use a clean cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol to blot the ink stain and remove it from the fabric. Then rinse it off by blotting with a damp cloth.
Another method for getting ink stains off of your sofa includes some white vinegar, a few drops of mild dish washing detergent and water. Again, dab the stain with a cloth dipped in the solution
To remove ink stains from a leather sofa, mix water with dish washing soap until you get soapy water with foam. Skim up some foam and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. Gently wipe the stain. Continue until the stain is gone. After that rinse of the area with a damp cloth and clean water.
